The Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate Association of Australia (MKAA) has been teaching the traditional Okinawan Karate style of Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) in Australia since 1999. The MKAA is headed by John Carlyle Sensei who is the Chief Instructor and Takayoshi Nagamine Soke's representative for Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate-Do in Australia.

John Carlyle Sensei, Godan (5th Dan) is the Chief Instructor for Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate-Do Australia. Carlyle Sensei has been involved in martial arts for over 35 years and has made numerous trips to Okinawa, Japan to train in Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) Karate-Do and under Takayoshi Nagamine Soke directly as well as hosting Soke in Australia numerous times.

The MKAA is an official member of the World Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) Karate-Do Association (WMKA) and is under the direct guidance of Takayoshi Nagamine Soke, Hanshisei, 10th Dan and follows a strict cirriculum as set out by the World Honbu Dojo (Headquarters) in Naha City, Okinawa, Japan. All dojo heads / dojo owners are licensed under the WMKA and directly by Nagamine Soke.

In order to ensure the MKAA maintains the highest standard of authenticity for Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate-Do in Australia it's instructors make regular visits to Okinawa, Japan to train under Takayoshi Nagamine Soke, Hanshisei, 10th Dan and other senior Matsubayashi-Ryu sensei. Additionally, the MKAA regularly hosts Takayoshi Nagamine Soke, as well as other senior instructors in Australia.

Reece Cummings Sensei, Sandan (3rd Dan) is the Head Dojo Instructor (Dojocho) of the Kodokan Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate Dojo which is the ACT / Canberra Branch of the MKAA. Cummings Sensei has made multiple trips to Okinawa, Japan to train in Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) Karate-Do and under Takayoshi Nagamine Soke directly and has also trained with Soke in Australia.
Rebecca Sheather Sensei, Sandan (3rd Dan) is the Assistant Instructor at the Wingham and Harrington Dojo under Carlyle Sensei. Sheather Sensei travelled to Okinawa, Japan in 2010 to train in Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) Karate-Do and also has trained with Soke in Australia.
Shayne Jennings Sensei, Sandan (3rd Dan) is the Instructor for the Taree Dojo under Carlyle Sensei. Shayne has trained with Takayoshi Nagamine Soke on his various visits to Australia.
